P U B L I S H E R S ' N O T E 4 • October 2016 • Western Real Estate Business www.REBusinessOnline.com It's easy to get excited about the larger happenings in commercial real estate when you're coming off an even like ICSC's Western Con- ference and Dealmaking, which was held Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 at the San Diego Convention Center. While this conference highlighted many national trends, such as the popularity of net lease investments, the potential oversaturation of dol- lar stores and the awesome new niche concepts dazzling the minds of Millennials, it also showcased much more. The conference and its exhibit hall additionally serve as a platform for cities and counties to showcase what they've been up to. In addi- tion to a variety of retail ventures, the City of Henderson, Nev., is aim- ing to bring a new 55-acre business park to its western region, while the County of San Bernardino was proud to announce the new lease up of the 447,740-square-foot Southern California Logistics Centre in Vic- torville. The City of Portland, Ore., also shared its industrial successes in this current issue, which includes projects like the 732,824-square-foot Vista Logistics Park in Gresham that is now underway. Covington, Wash., highlighted its partnership with Oakpointe Communities, which will include the Shops at LakePointe, the centerpiece of the 212-acre Lake- Pointe development that will target fashion, dining, movie theaters, as well as one-of-a kind local apparel, accessory boutiques, home fashions and unique, aspirational "treasure hunting" boutiques for the ultimate in experiential shopping. Chandler, Ariz., is also getting in on the action. The city will soon be home to Chandler Crossings, a new lifestyle and entertainment center on the site of the partially constructed Shoppes of Chandler Heights. The city, development partners, tenants and retail brokers are all ecstatic to see what was once an eyesore soon shine as a new retail destination. These regions and their corre- sponding projects take the phrase "big city living" to a whole new level. We couldn't be happier for the cities and their deserving residents and visitors who will get to enjoy these commercial milestones for years to come.
